Sea Smoke

Have you ever sat by the ocean on a cloudy, foggy, rainy day just to hear the sea? Have you ever timed your arrival to watch the sea smoke float hauntingly across the harbor? With every breath of salty air the human soul is healed and refreshed; every droplet of mist soothing, cooling and comforting. The brisk wind that chills the back has a familiar feeling. It reminds people that live in the North that they are home.

My upcoming release “Sea Smoke” is meant to speak to these nostalgic feelings. Those of us that live by the sea feel it move us. We know when she is happy, we know when she is angry and we know when she is hurt or lost. I often visit the ocean to regain my footing. I go to feel my soul at peace and I also go to let my heart cry when it needs to. When a deep loss of unknown proportions is stirring inside me, her majestic power lifts me up as the swell is once again carried out to sea; the surfboard below me eager for one last dance before the set is complete.

“Sea Smoke” is dedicated to the memory of Bruce Simpson, one of the greatest fishermen to ever grace the cold waters of Maine.
